November 2007 Message Series:
"Unforgettable"

What does it mean to truly be thankful? And how do our memories contribute to define who we are?

Each year, as we get closer to the holiday season we start to visibly see change taking place. The beauty of the natural colors we find in the Fall of the year often spark a smile or a warm feeling inside. Sometimes, they even spark a memory.

People gather together in the Fall of each year and share in all the memories of past Thanksgivings and holidays, and even work through the bad memories with the help of loved ones. Good or bad, memories are part of our life experiences. And the pace of our lives today tends to compartmentalize experiences, causing us to usually pause only long enough to ponder such things at Thanksgiving (like it's unconsciously labeled as the start day for this activity). But if the truth be known, when we trace "experience" in our ordinary lives, we often are more interested in "what's next?" than in really being thankful.

So then, where does God fit into all of this? How can Jesus be "Unforgettable" in the ordinary moments of our lives? And why does it matter at all?

God has given us so much that we take for granted. Things such as freedom, beautiful sunsets, family and friends, quiet times, food, etc., all can become such a part of our daily lives that they can be taken for granted. Are we thankful for what we have — and what we experience — or are we just waiting on what's next? In our new series "Unforgettable," we will look at these kind of questions and issues as we focus on how thanksgiving and praise is emphasized in our culture.

We hope you can join us! Take a look at the preview video below.
