Children are at the heart of our focus at FaithWalk. Jesus once said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these." His words echo today as we continue to try and stay out of Christ's way. Our efforts to stay out of the way are not reflected through "programming" but intstead through trusting in the Scriptures, traditions, innovations, and life experiences that shape our Christian journey. We begin by making priority an emphasis on family ministry, which not only works to build a solid foundation through creative biblical teaching within the ministry of the church, but also encourages continued dialogue and interaction at home between parents, family members, and the children as they learn.
At the core of this strategy is the encouragement of imagination. The imagination of a child is inspiring. What if the limits of our imagination were set free? What would happen? We believe that Jesus challenges us to look beyond ourselves everyday, and to share in the rich stories, traditions, and experiences that are found in the Bible. This is how our new children's worship program was born, and "Tales from the Trails" finds itself currently as the center hub of a growing children's ministry.
"Tales from the Trails" offers engaging storytelling from the Bible, told by characters such as "Deputy Baldy," "Ranger Rusty," "Servant Sandy," "Boondock Bill," "Brother Earl," "Hop-a-long Hope," "Adventurous Andy," "Independent Ingrid," and more! Additionally, music, bible memory verses, and breakout groups combined for interactive learning experience! Children have the option of participating in "Tales from the Trails" each Sunday, as they are dismissed during a special moment in the service.
In addition to "Tales from the Trails," there are other areas of children's ministy, including nursery, special events, and seasonal opportunities. For more information, or to volunteer in an area of interest, please contact Bill Gibson (bill@faithwalkumc.org).
